The IAGG World Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics is the most authoritative international Gerontology and Geriatrics congress that has been held for over 63 years, every 4 years since the 1950s where professionals come to present recent discoveries, examine industrial trends and discuss related policies for Gerontology and Geriatrics. In Asia, the congress was held in Tokyo in 1978. In addition to presenting corresponding direction for the aging population of 21st century, in the wake of the competition, Korea as the national chairman of the international organization and also the conference organizer IAGG, took the opportunity to become the global research and education center for the study of world aging population.

The IUCN World Conservation Congress is the world’s largest and most important conservation event that is held every four years. It aims to improve managing natural environment for human, social and economic development.
It was the first time that IUCN with its 60-year of history held its general meeting in the Northeast Asia. Taking this opportunity, Korea enhanced its national prestige as a global leading power in the environmental sector. The congress attracted over 1,100 NGOs and 10,000 people from over 180 countries across the globe who participated in the Jeju World Conservation Congress (WCC). Jeju Island took this opportunity to assert itself as an environment friendly location and kindled its program under the foundation of ‘eco-tourism’. The Jeju WCC, favorable to the domestic tourism industry and the environmental industry, is estimated to value about 300 billion won through direct and indirect effect it had on regional economy and the aforementioned industries. The brand value of Jeju Island had also increased through the Congress.

WCD, largest international medical conference of its kind held in Seoul back in 2011 was a major success, underscoring Seoul’s strong ability to host international meetings of major size and scale. WCD 2011 brought together the 12,000 attendees – physicians, exhibitors and members of the press - from over 110 countries. Three of COEX’s main halls were reserved for exhibitions and receptions, while 23 additional meeting rooms were used for scientific sessions. The exhibition was supported by 16 major sponsors and 200 companies using a total of 6,177m² of exhibition space.
12,000 people from around 100 countries participated while 1,200 people listened in on 320 academic sessions. 500 companies exhibited in approximately 900 booths.
Participants spent over 200,000,000,000KRW in total on touring, accommodation and shopping inducing economic effect as well as employment effect of 20,000 jobs.
The conference showed how highly Korean medicine and brands were regarded internationally and also showed how remarkably Korea's infrastructure had developed over the years.
Per this exhibition, cornerstone was laid out for future development of the domestic dermatology industry and its globalization. Also, it was noted how South Korea's status in medicine has enhanced internationally and how competent they were in successfully hosting a large scale international competition.

“Representatives from 140 countries- the largest number of countries so far- participated in the meeting, with a reported 500,000 Koreans visiting the convention center, as well as the nearby Upo and Junam wetlands. This has been a great opportunity to raise national awareness of ecological tourism.” The Ramsar Convention, also known as ‘The Convention on Wetlands of International Importance’ is an intergovernmental treaty designed to protect wetland environments and ensure proper use of its resources. The shorter name was coined after the Iranian city of Ramsar first adopted the treaty on February 2nd 1971. Member states, often referred to as ‘contracting parties’, gather every three years to evaluate if members have honored their agreements, as stipulated in the treaty. The convention is the highest decision-making facility, which also serves to table and approve resolutions on future policy. It also aims to monitor and guide government policy at a national level.
